On Jedlix, a new feature is now live to charge your car using the output of your own solar panels. Great stuff! However, this is based on predictions and models and not on actual live output of your solar system (or systems). Also, Tesla has added a feature to the API to change the charge rate or your car (so not just on/off but anywhere between 5A and 16A).
I would like Jedlix to change the charge rate of my Tesla based on the live output of my solar panels, using the API call for this on the Tesla API. Of course that would mean also adding the inverter account but there are only a few popular brands and they all use a web portal with (public) API so that shouldn't be too hard. For people with multiple inverters maybe have the option to add more than 1. Maybe keep the prediction based method for anyone who can't or won't add their inverter to the app.

Allow charging the car with a dynamic charging rate to only use overcapacity (based on prediction or actual value).

It's nice to have some generic capabilities to anticipate on solar production. The weakness is that my other devices may/may not be using this solar energy production already. It would be much better to connect with additional hardware to know when there is over production and use it for charging your car (or not).
Examples are temporary clouds but also the 'competition' of heat pumps or other electricity consumers.

And all of the above, based on home assistant data (knowing the actual overcapacity and able to predict too)

Hi Harko,
Thanks for this idea!
we currently support Dynamic tariffs in the application, by selecting 'Dynamic' in the Energy Tariff screen.
Is this what you mean or woud you like to have something else?

I meant a dynamic charging rate for the car, based on PV production.. so if my overcapacity is at 3kWh than adapt the charging rate so it uses that "exactly". Unless obviously the power is at the lowest price than also make use of that.

This is much more accurate than the current smart solar charging feature.
